Policy |
With the demographic changes in Japan as well, workers' work styles and the ideal way of working overtime are regarded as a problem. Companies are required to review their corporate culture and working environments that depend on long working hours, and to develop systems that enable more flexible working styles, as well as work environments that are comfortable and rewarding. The Ricoh Lease Group has positioned the Work-Life Management ※as an initiative in line with the basic stance of its management philosophy, and is developing and expanding a support system that is tailored to the life stages in which employees can continue to work with peace of mind, and in order to enable them to perform even more actively. In addition, in order to strengthen occupational health and safety and improve labor productivity, we view employee health as one of the important issues of corporate management. We promote health management based on the Health Declaration, which aims to realize a safe, healthy, and comfortable working environment, with each and every employee taking the initiative to maintain and promote health. |
- ※Our group uses the term "work-life management" instead of "work-life balance" based on the idea that we should actively manage both sides in order to enhance both work and life.

Work-Life Management Activities
Promote a comfortable working environment
With COVID-19 pandemic as the backdrop, Ricoh Lease has created a new normal work style, eliminating traditional time-and-location limitations and creating a more flexible work style. After the introduction of the telecommuting system in 2019, in response to changes in the environment surrounding us and the opinions of our employees, we have reviewed the system to enable more flexible telecommuting, such as eliminating the upper limit on the requirements and the number of times of implementation of the system, and relaxing the requirements for locations where the system is implemented.By continuing to promote telework, we will establish a business continuity system for COVID-19 pandemic and other contingencies. At the same time, we will further improve productivity and enhance both the quality of work styles and the quality of life.
We also introduced a side business system in fiscal 2018.Through this system, we aim to raise the skills of individual employees and improve the quality of their works. At the same time, we will contribute to society through the provision of the skills and experience of employees with specialized skills.
In fiscal 2022, we introduced an in-house freelance system to create an environment that enables employees who wish to take on new challenges to realize their individual work styles without being limited by the framework of permanent employees.By utilizing the in-house freelance system, we can respond to the diverse needs of selves, such as expanding the weight of specialized works and sub-jobs, experimenting with their abilities, and pursuing learning.Employees who wish to return to their parents' homes for nursing care, or those who wish to reduce their workload for childcare or nursing care and work in ways that are not tied to the rules for shortened working days or working hours can also be able to work flexibly according to individual conditions and life stages.

To properly manage working hours and encourage employees to take annual leave
Working hours management is strengthened and thoroughly implemented through a health management system linked to work management. In order to create an environment in which work and life can be balanced and a result can be achieved, we have introduced a flex work system that does not have core time, and a work-to-work interval system that requires a certain amount of rest time to be provided after work is completed.
On the other hand, we are actively promoting the use of annual leave by our employees. For example, we have introduced a new work management system that allows employees to take annual leave in units of time that allow them to take annual paid leave (hereinafter referred to as annual leave) more flexibly, and to visually understand the status of the use of annual leave in real time.As a result, the rate of annual leave taken in 2022 was 79.8%, which was higher than the previous year's result of 73.9%.
Efforts to Promote Health Management
Health Declaration announced
We announce the Health Declaration and promote health management based on our basic stance of creating an environment in which employees can work energetically, believing that the health of our employees is directly linked to management.
- Each employee is an asset of Ricoh Lease.
- Every employee's health is the foundation of his or her own happiness and the foundation of the development of Ricoh Lease.
- At Ricoh Lease, each and every employee will proactively maintain and improve their health, and the Company will strive to realize a safe, healthy and comfortable work environment.
Promotion of Health Management
Based on the health slogan "Health First, Work Secondary," we have set numerical targets for improving our own health issues as health indicators, and are taking various initiatives to improve health risks.
The Health Committee is organized by the head of the workplace, the health committee of the representative of the workplace, the health manager, the disaster prevention manager, the personnel and general affairs district, the health promotion office, and the industrial health staff. Each workplace is assigned a "Health Promoter" to take measures to promote health and improve literacy, as well as to improve the working environment.
We continue to maintain a health check-up rate and a secondary checkup follow-up rate of 100%. We are developing proactive measures to reduce health risks, such as stratifying health risks from health check-up results and visualizing employee health status. In addition, in order to encourage individual employees to independently maintain and promote their health, the Company is backing up the development of health that is tailored to the circumstances of the workplace, in parallel with the implementation of measures for the entire Company (Group).
As a result of these efforts, Health & Productivity Stock Selection 2023 was selected for the seventh time in sixth consecutive year, and White 500, 2023, an excellent healthy management corporation, was approved for the seventh time in seventh consecutive year.

Smoking measures
In order to prevent health impairment caused by smoking and to promote health, we have added smoking rules and their penalties to our work regulations, and we have implemented smoking cessation on the premises and all smoking cessation during working hours. In 2019, the "Non-smoking Policy" was posted on our website recruitment page to limit applicants to non-smokers.The smoking rate declined year by year, falling below the previous year's level of 11.9% in fiscal 2022, thanks to strengthened efforts to prevent smoking, including the transmission of non-smoking messages from the top management to employees, provide and promotion of the smoking prohibition support programme, and delivery of a lecture on "health risks caused by smoking" by industrial physicians, a specialist from the Japan Society of Smoking Engineers. In addition, non-smoking is set as a condition for promotion of directors, and we aim to maintain a zero smoking rate for directors and to further reduce the smoking rate for employees.

Strengthening efforts to maintain and promote health
In order to maintain mental and physical health, we conduct stress checks and wellness checks (lifestyle checks) and provide detailed follow-up services such as interviews with industrial health staff according to the results. To prevent the occurrence of mental health problems, we provide mental education to executives, managers, and employees by providing them with mental education opportunities for each level.Line Care and Self-Care materials are posted on the company portal site for employee access and are effectively used in conjunction with e-learning.
